Thriving with skills, tools and practices for lifelong learning!
How can we help kids (ages 8-18) who struggle in school develop skills to support their learning?
Learn how by enrolling in the next Empower the Learner Programs that begin on August 9th!
Empower the Learner was born from the single belief that…
“Every child on the planet is a learner!”
We also believe that every child needs to be seen, heard, valued and empowered in their learning every day.
This is the time to empower the learner so that they can thrive with the skills, tools and practices for lifelong learning.
Here is How…
The Empower The Learner (ETL) Programs are designed with you in mind!
We create unique, innovative programs for parents and educators who want their kids to have autonomy over themselves and their learning. We believe children who can advocate for themselves can do anything!
The Empower The Learner (ETL) Programs are based upon the latest research from the science of learning, cognitive neurosciences and mindfulness. Through our systematic approach that recognizes and fully utilizes each child’s strengths, at every stage of development and education, you will be well-equipped to support your kids in their own journey of learner empowerment.
We do everything we do with one focus: Empower the Learner to…
- Develop a positive self-perception of who they are and how they learn.
- Understand his or her strengths and challenges in their learning using the learning sciences.
- Acquire learning strategies and skills with tools to support a challenge or enhance a strength in their learning.
- Develop agency and daily practices around their learning.
- Use mindfulness to enhance both learning and overall well being
- Set goals and actions around their learning.
- Advocate in the way they learn for a lifetime.
- Realize their hopes and dreams.
After a learner goes through the process of building a Learner Profile, they are equipped with the language needed to advocate for their needs in the classroom. The process involves deep reflection, setting goals and then taking action to exemplify strengths while addressing weaknesses. They are confident advocates for themselves in the classroom, during conferences, IEP meetings and are truly agents of their education.
From Andelee Espinosa, NBCT – Special Education Teacher
The Learner Profile is a valuable tool to use with all of your learners. It is a great idea to use at the start of the school year, review mid year, and revise at the end of the year. As the year progresses, learner needs shift. The Learner Profile is flexible in that it can grow with the learner. When teachers in our district first rolled it out at the high school level, an interesting realization was that learners were NOT aware of what they needed in order to access, engage, and express. It really brought to light the importance of empowering the learner from the MOMENT they enter school to the MOMENT that they leave. I recommend using the profile as a tool of empowerment for all learners.
